Tourism covers a lot of different fields and documents. The following are also some examples of tourist documentation that we often translate for our customers:
- Marketing documentation
- Rental/lease agreements
- Information sheets (eg.museums)
- Maps/floor plans
- Holiday home offers
A localised translation
Translations in the field of tourism often have some interesting features other documents lack. Those documents usually require a more creative translation than that of a contract or lawsuit. When describing a region, or references to people in a particular culture, the translation requires a vastly different approach. In English, there is no definitive translation for the Dutch word ‘gezellig’, while in the Czech Republic they probably have little knowledge of the somewhat tongue-in-cheek rivalry between the Northerners and the Southerners of the United Kingdom.
Such differences require creative solutions – which our translators are only too happy to provide. They are not only fluent speakers of the source and target languages, but they are also creative and eager to travel. This way, you are assured of a top-notch translation which will attract tourists every season.
CAT-tools and translation memories
Our translators also use the newest technology for tourism translations. By using specialist translation software (CAT tools), our teams always maintain an overview even in large documents. In addition, the software also ensures consistent terminology: for example, you ensure that in large translations terms such as ‘holiday home’ or ‘go-kart’ are translated consistently.
In addition to consistent terminology, CAT tools also ensure that we can use translation memories. Previously translated texts are securely stored there for use in subsequent translations. In other words, if you provide a document that closely resembles a previous translation, you can expect a substantial discount for identical texts For a more comprehensive overview of our process, click here.
